Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge was built by John Augustus Roebling over the East River which connects Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.  It opened on May 24th, 1883 and construction started 1869.

Currently the bridge has 6 lanes but once upon a time, it supported Elevated Train until 1944, and Streetcars until 1950.

The bridge had 2 names,   New York and Brooklyn Bridge and as East  River Bridge, and was officially named Brooklyn Bridge by the city in 1915.
